Buy NaviSet Transfer

NaviSetExport

NaviSet Transfer is a suite of plugins and maxscripts developed to transfer Navisworks Selection/Search Sets and Timeliner animation to 3DS Max for animation and simulation purposes. The tool is best suited for people with beginner to intermediate experience using 3D Studio Max and intermediate experience using Navisworks. In Max, you will want to know how to use the renderers and run scripts. In Navisworks, you will want to be able to work with Revit files, create sets, and use the Timeliner.

Here’s a tutorial, it’s out of date as of September 29th, 2017. The Timeline Set export process is fully automatic now – you no longer need to fiddle with the Set Export feature within the Timeliner.

Here’s some previous videos that show its development over time:

The current product includes the set transfer tools, and a time liner transfer tool. Both of which, when used together help the user to create construction/demolition animation sequences in Max using Revit models and Navisworks set data.

To purchase this product, click the Paypal button below. You don’t need a Paypal account, and your payment information is kept confidential by the Paypal system.

Within this package you will find installation instructions, the EULA, the export plugin for Navisworks 2016, 2017, & 2018, and the import script for 3D Studio Max. You will also find the beta version for the Timeliner export plugin and import script.

To use this software, it is required that you have:

  • Revit 2016, 2017, or 2018
  • Navisworks 2016, 2017, or 2018
  • 3D Studio Max 2016, 2017, or 2018

Important: Verify that your installation of Max has a working Revit Link plugin. If you haven’t installed Revit yet, you may need to do so to get this plugin installed. If you have, and the plugin isn’t available (it should be visible under the File > Import options), you may have to uninstall and re-install Revit.

Also be aware that this plugin only works on Revit files. Navisworks is compatible with a wide range of format, and DWG is a common one, but the plugin will not work with DWG files. This is because the set transfer method relies on Revit ID numbers to work. If everything you want to transfer sits within a Revit file, the plugin will transfer everything.

NaviSet Transfer is $20 on sale for $10, and each user will get free updates. If you have questions, feel free to leave a comment below. If you bought the software and need in-depth help, send an email using the contact information included with the software.

Upon purchase, you will receive a download email within a short period of time. Please check your spam folder within this time frame. If you’re an Outlook.com user, it may also appear under “Other” in your main Inbox. If you don’t receive it, feel free to comment here and I’ll push it out to you manually.

Have you checked compatibility of the plug-in with the 2016 versions of the software? If not, would you anticipate any issues? We’ve already upgraded to 2016 at our office. Thanks and good work!

    Hi,
Is there any way make the animation from transparent mode? I mean instead of moving randomly from different paths, appear from transparent mode?
    Thanks

Yes, by editing the keys created by the script in Max. Visit the download page again to make sure you have the latest version (9/10) – it handles this better. (animated transparency levels set by maxscript aren’t reliable or even consistent between renderers, so I worked around it by simply having things pop in or out of existence in a single frame)

    Hi:
Congratulations for the script from Spain.

I wish to use for export Navisworks animations to Lumion.
Navisworks + Revit —(Naviset Transfer)—-> 3D Max — (fbx)–> Lumion. Lumion can import FBX with animations, but only with changes in position, rotation and scale, so I think your app will be very interesting.

Is it possible to export a FBX file with animation from 3dmax to another software as Lumion with complete animation? I’m not 3D Max user, but I’ll learn only for doing this from Naviswork.

Could you send me a FBX file like the one on the video from 3D Max to test? I promise I’ll send you the results.

    Thank you very much.

Alright, I’ve sent you a link to an FBX file. I hope that works out for you, I didn’t have complete success with it in Unity (the object’s origins were reset, making them all come together in a pile instead of a building).

Hassan, my sincere apologies for the delay! I have sent you the link and refunded your purchase. It’s my fault, but I also need to stop using Paypal (it should have forwarded you to the link).

From now on, all purchases will receive a link direct from me, whether or not Paypal does it. Thank you for your patience, and feel free to contact me in case you need any support.

    Hi Chris,

    This looks great.

Does it work with multiple Revit files or just a single file?

I have created a timeliner animation in Navisworks with 7 or 8 Revit models combined. Will it be possible to use your script to animate this in 3DS Max?

It would be great if the NWD could be exported in, instead of the Revit files – I already have all my viewpoints etc saved in the Navisworks file. I assume this will all need to be set up again when using the Revit files?

    Thanks

Sorry for the late reply. It works with multiple Revit files, but camera positions are not exported to Max.

Is there a trial version of this software available please? We would need to test this works with our scene before purchasing, thanks, Neil

No trial version is available. The plugins will work provided that it’s all either Revit files, or NWC exports from Revit. A project that includes a cad file might mess it up until you remove it. This could be something I could fix in the future.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. It appears I didn’t have WordPress configured correctly to forward these posts to my email where I could be notified, as I’m just now seeing these and other posts. In order to trouble shoot your project, I’ll need to talk to you further. Again, I’m very sorry for the delayed response.

    Hi Chris

I’ve been trying to purchase this for a few days now with no luck. Paypal tells me that they are “unable to process my payment” and that I should “go back to merchant and try using a different payment method”. My Paypal account is fully active and up to date. Do you have any suggestions for me?

    Cheers

Honestly I’m just now seeing this, though I’m happy to see that everything went through fine, having looked up the email and my response just to be sure. Paypal kind of sucks, and I have to reply to each purchasers email manually just to insure that people get the download. And unlike WordPress postings, I get and respond to Paypal alerts pretty much immediately… though I’ll be doing something about WP real soon (sorry guys).

It’s standalone. There’s nothing to enforce the license though, so if you want to install it on more than two computers I can’t stop you. 😉

Rodrigo, I responded via email a couple days ago. In case you missed it, I’m also replying here:

1st, you don’t really need the installer, but you do need 3DSMax. Have you installed it, and if so, where?
If you want to try it manually, there’s instructions within the individual folders of the plugins in the zip file. I’m still interested in your setup though.

Hi Chris, Thank you so much for this wonderful tool, however, is it possible to import Fbx file exported from Revit rather than link Revit file.
    Thanks

Have you figure out how to export Navisworks model (not necessarily Revit based) to 3DS?
I worked for company that wrote plugin like that and programmer suggested to use more then ID to identify parts…

I’m sure it can be done, I just haven’t invested the time in figuring that out yet. Maybe I will in the future.

    Hi There,

I had great success in getting the sets exported from Navisworks for one of the models that I was working on, however I am not having trouble with the next model. Both these models were created the same way by me. When I export the sets from the second one and then import them into 3ds Max, it shows that they are importing, with the correct names, but when it is complete there are no selection sets within 3ds. It seems only one of my models is working, I even tried a third model with the same results. I verified that the element ids of the elements match what is in Navisworks and Revit as well as what comes into 3ds Max when I link the Revit model. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Yes. I’ve figured this one out: for now delete any attachments in your Navisworks project that aren’t Revit files. The plugin is supposed to detect these and work around them, but I must have messed up somewhere.
